About French Franc Exchange
The French Franc (FRF) was the official currency of France from 1360 until 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro. We accept all denominations of French Franc banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current French Franc Banknotes
The French Franc was fully withdrawn from circulation in 2002, so there are no current series in use today. All French Franc banknotes are now withdrawn and treated as collector or legacy currency — you can find details of the specific notes we accept in the section below.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most high street exchanges, we buy all withdrawn French Franc banknotes, including well-known designs such as the 500 Franc Pierre and Marie Curie note and the 200 Franc Gustave Eiffel note, as well as all other denominations from across the franc’s long history. We also accept damaged notes, provided they are at least 50% intact — the rate may be marginally lower for notes in poor condition, but we will not turn them away as most exchanges would. If you also have other pre-Euro currencies to exchange, we handle Deutsche Marks, Spanish Pesetas, and many more.
French Franc Coins
We accept the full range of French Franc coins, including centime and franc denominations of all sizes. Exchange rates for coins are slightly lower than for banknotes due to the additional handling involved, but unlike many services we will not simply refuse them.
